ORGANIC SUNSCREEN WITH SAFE INGREDIENTS.

Safe sunscreen starts with safe ingredients. There are many products on the market today that have unhealthy, toxic active ingredients to block the sun from damaging your skin. Look for these ingredients instead when buying sunscreen:

  • Zinc Oxide
  • Titanium Dioxide
  • Avobenzone or Mexoryl SX

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide have the best safety track record for current sunscreens. They are stable when exposed to the sun and do not appear to penetrate your skin. Other ingredients should include botanical oils, essential oils and healing herbs that moisturize your skin. Avoid products laden with chemicals that can absorb into your bloodstream and cause possible health concerns.

    SUNSCREEN WITH HARMFUL CHEMICALS

  • Oxybenzone - A study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that 97% of Americans are contaminated with a sunscreen ingredient that is widely used called oxybenzone. This chemical has been linked to cell damage, allergies and hormone disruption. Children are especially at risk. Their organ systems are developing and are more vulnerable to damage from chemical exposure.

  • Octinoxate - Estrogenic effects are noted in laboratory animals as well as disruption of thyroid hormone and brain signaling.

  • Octisalate - It is a penetration enhancer, which may increase the amount of other ingredients passing through skin

  • Homosalate - A UVB protector. Research indicates it is a weak hormone disruptor, forms toxic metabolites, and can enhance the penetration of a toxic herbicide.
